Mahim Dargah begins, Mumbai Police continues tradition!
The annual fair held at the Dargah of Harjat Makhdoom ali Mahimi in Mahim area of mumbai began on monday (16 December). This fair will continue for 10 days. mumbai police offered the first chaadar on Monday. This fair started amid tight security and will continue for 10 days. Devotees come here from different parts of the country.
We offered the first chaadar at the dargah - Police
An officer said that the policemen wore colorful traditional clothes and joined the sandal (procession) from the police station premises to the dargah. According to news agency PTI, Senior police Inspector Vinayak Vetal said, "We saluted the Mahim Dargah this morning as we do every year. We offered the first chaadar at the dargah."
'Preparations had started three months ago'
Along with this, the police inspector said that people, irrespective of their religion and caste, celebrate the 10-day long Urs. This tradition has been going on since the british era. We started preparing for the Urs three months ago.

Constable praveen Chipkar said that he has been participating in Sandal for 45 years. Wherever we are, we reach Mahim during Urs. I and my colleagues never miss Mahim Sandal.
More than seven lakh people expected to come - Managing Trustee
Mahim Dargah's Managing Trustee Sohail Khandwani said, "Today is the 611th death anniversary of Hazrat Makhdoom ali Mahimi. We have the gazette of the year 1901 of Urs. About 400 to 450 'Sandals' are expected to come to Mahim in the next 10 days and more than seven lakh people will come. He said that the fair is being organized with the help of local police, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and mumbai Port Trust.
