Customs officer in Delhi arrested 4 at the airport, recovered 1 crore!

The air Intelligence Unit of Customs arrested a total of four smugglers in two cases of gold smuggling at Delhi's indira gandhi international airport (IGIA). A total of 1438 grams of gold was recovered from them. The price of gold in the international market is said to be more than one crore rupees.

According to the information received from Customs officials, in the first case, the air Intelligence Unit of Customs stopped a 37-year-old indian male passenger at Terminal-3 while coming to delhi from indore on the basis of a secret information about smuggling. Some suspicious pictures were seen in the X-ray examination of his luggage. The Customs officials then thoroughly searched his luggage. 13 pieces of gold of foreign origin were recovered from his luggage, whose total weight is 999 grams. Its market value is Rs 72.72 lakh.

Uzbek passenger confessed this after strictness

In the second case, based on an intelligence input, three male passengers holding Uzbek passports who arrived in delhi from Almaty on 5 december 2024 by flight number 6E1802, were stopped by the customs team for investigation on the basis of their suspicious behavior after going out of the green channel. However, no suspicious picture was seen during the X-ray examination of their luggage, nor was any beep sound heard on the DFMD of the passengers.

Despite this, due to abnormal behavior, he was taken to the interrogation room of AIU for personal investigation. Where he admitted to smuggling by hiding gold pieces in his rectum. 8 pieces of gold were recovered from his rectum, weighing 439 grams. In both the cases, the customs seized the recovered gold and arrested the passengers. The police is engaged in further investigation in this matter.
