Jaishankar: India did not respond to 26/11 attack
indian Foreign minister Dr. S. jaishankar recently said in NDTV's 'Indian of the Year Awards 2024' program that India's security strategy and approach to deal with terrorism has changed a lot since before. He said that the then government did not give any concrete response after the 26/11 terrorist attacks in mumbai in 2008, but now, after incidents like uri and Balakot, india has told pakistan by conducting surgical strikes and airstrikes that terrorism will not be tolerated.
jaishankar said, "Today's india only knows how to move forward. We have shown a change in our strategy by giving a precise answer to pakistan in uri and Balakot." He also said that today's india is not only focusing on internal development, but is also vigilant about its data-borders and security. india now adopts a policy of "presence and response" towards terrorism. jaishankar made it clear that now india is a country that does not shy away from taking decisive steps to protect its citizens and data-borders.
Surgical strike 2016
On 18 september 2016, terrorists attacked the indian Army's brigade headquarters located in the uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir. 19 indian soldiers were martyred in this attack. Investigation revealed that this attack was carried out by Pakistan-based terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed. In retaliation, on the night of 28-29 september 2016, the indian Army crossed the Line of Control (LoC) and carried out a surgical strike on terrorist launch pads located in pakistan Occupied kashmir (PoK) and destroyed the terrorist hideouts and launchpads.
