US Election Voters: Top and Bottom States!

S Venkateshwari
Nearly 67% of eligible voters cast ballots in the 2020 U.S. presidential election, marking the greatest participation in more than a century. Nonetheless, turnout was considerably greater in several states, such Minnesota, where 79.21% of eligible voters cast votes.

Colorado (76.69%), Oregon and Washington (75.33% apiece), and wisconsin (75.04%) were among the other states with noteworthy voter turnout. Due to same-day registration, competitive state contests, and high voter turnout, Minnesota has led the nation in turnout since 1980. These patterns have persisted in previous elections. Increased volunteerism and social activity are associated with higher levels of engagement in states such as Minnesota.

On the other hand, lower turnout rates may be found in states like South Carolina and texas that have stringent voting rules. It's interesting to note that jurisdictions like New York and Hawaii that have less stringent regulations occasionally also have low participation rates. Voter turnout has usually grown over the last ten years, in part because early and absentee voting are now available. A record number of younger people have registered to vote ahead of the 2024 election, especially in battleground areas, and groups are striving to increase turnout even more. Through its "Here We Vote" campaign, Minnesota is aggressively encouraging voter engagement in an effort to restore its top spot in terms of voter turnout.
