Kamala Harris Accepts Invitation for Second Debate with Donald Trump
US Vice President Kamala harris announced on saturday that she has accepted CNN's invitation to participate in a second presidential debate with Republican candidate Donald Trump.
“I will gladly accept a second presidential debate on october 23. I hope @realDonaldTrump will join me,” harris stated in a post confirmed by CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins. Harris's campaign chair, Jen O’Malley Dillon, expressed that harris is ready to share the stage with trump, emphasizing that the American public deserves another opportunity to see both candidates debate before the election.
If trump accepts the invitation, it would mark his third debate appearance, having previously debated both President Joe Biden and harris herself. However, trump has previously indicated reluctance to debate harris again, and his campaign did not respond to requests for comment.
Most analysts considered harris the victor of their last debate on september 10, hosted by ABC. Concerns over Biden's age have intensified following a lackluster performance in a debate against trump in June, leading to increased pressure for the 81-year-old president to consider stepping back from the race. This dynamic positions trump, 78, against the younger harris, 59, as they head into the election season.
