The decision to resign came a day after an actress reiterated allegations of sexual assault and rape she first committed through a data-facebook post in 2019. The incident allegedly took place in a hotel in 2016.The allegations against Siddiqui, who was elected to the post of general secretary through an internal election for three years earlier this year, come against the backdrop of the release of the hema Committee report that highlighted incidents of sexual harassment and harassment against women artistes and technicians in the malayalam film industry.
