Warangal - khammam - nalgonda graduates MLC by-election continues to be suspenseful over the final result. In the first preference votes, the tough fight continued between the ruling congress party candidate Teenmaar Mallanna and opposition BRS candidate Enugula Rakesh Reddy. With 1,55,095 votes counted as the winning quota (one vote more than 50 per cent of the votes cast) not being received by anyone, officials conducted a second-preference vote count to decide the winner. So far 42 candidates have been eliminated in this process. Among these candidates, votes are being shared competitively between congress and BRS candidates. After the elimination process of bjp candidate Gujjula Premender reddy was completed, congress candidate Theenmar Mallanna got 1,23,709 votes and BRS candidate Rakesh reddy got 1,04,846 votes. According to the latest update, Tinmar Mallanna is leading by 19 thousand votes. party sources predict that Mallanna's victory is certain as bjp and independent candidate ashok are leading even after elimination. The winner will be announced in a few hours.

The process of elimination is as follows.

In the first preference MLC elections for graduates, as no candidate gets enough votes for the winning quota, the winner is decided by counting the second preference vote in the process of elimination. Out of the total number of candidates who contested, those who received the least number of first preference votes will be recognized first. Their ballot papers are credited to the candidate who received the second preference vote. Thereafter, the candidate who gets less votes will be eliminated from the counting process in a regular manner. This is called process of elimination.

On the instructions of the Returning Officer, the list was prepared in ascending order based on the votes secured by the candidates. All of them were informed and the process of elimination started. While 3,36,013 votes were registered in this election, 25,824 votes were declared invalid by the officials. Among these, those who are in the first 3 positions are the most. Officials said that 15,126 votes were invalid in the first two rounds. While many voters had to put numbers in the box next to the candidate of their choice, right-marking, signing the candidate's photo, writing a sign of preference in telugu and English, writing slogans like 'Jai Telangana' and 'Jai congress ' in some places, many votes were invalidated. Criticism is coming that even graduates are doing this in this order.
