On the 40th anniversary of Operation Blue Star in punjab, people of the Sikh community raised slogans at the golden temple complex in Amritsar. posters of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale were also seen during the demonstration. Pro-Khalistan slogans were also raised. Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) chief Simranjit Singh Mann was also present during this time.

Meanwhile, security has been increased in Punjab. amritsar SSP SS Randhawa Singh said, "Strict security arrangements have been made here. Forces have been deployed and barricading has been done. Any untoward incident will be monitored."

Pro-Khalistan movement got a boost

Operation Blue Star was carried out during the tenure of former prime minister Indira Gandhi. Violent and religious clashes took place during the Operation Blue Star incident at the golden temple in Amritsar. This operation was ordered by the then prime minister Indira Gandhi. This operation lasted from 1 june to 10 june 1984. A large number of people died in this. After this incident, the pro-Khalistan movement in punjab continued for a long time.

The golden temple also suffered heavy damage due to Operation Blue Star. There was great resentment among the Sikh community. Its far-reaching consequences are still being felt today. The then prime minister indira gandhi had to pay the price of the operation with her life. Four months after Operation Blue Star, indira gandhi was assassinated by her Sikh bodyguard.
