BJP protests against Jitendra of tearing BR Ambedkar's photo…

BJP workers in maharashtra protested against Nationalist congress Party-Sharadchandra Pawar mla Jitendra Awhad in several parts of maharashtra and accused him of insulting Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. Former state minister Awhad on wednesday apologized for tearing posters condemning the Manusmriti, which also had Ambedkar's picture.

Awhad had participated in a protest in Mahad in Raigad district against the state government's alleged plan to include some verses of the Manusmriti in the school curriculum. He had earlier said that the ancient text supports the caste system and insults women. He had asked people to oppose the decision. The controversy erupted after a video of that protest went viral on social media platforms in which Awhad was seen tearing posters which also had Ambedkar's picture.

BJP workers on thursday protested at prominent places in various cities of the state including Mumbai, nagpur and thane and condemned Awhad's act. A case has been registered against Awhad under various sections of the indian Penal Code at Bundgarden police station in pune on the complaint of a bjp official.

NCP-SP's maharashtra unit chief Jayant Patil said in a post on social media platform 'X', "Jitendra Awhad is actively working to protect the teachings of Dr. Ambedkar. No one can doubt his sincerity and dedication towards Dr. Ambedkar. He has already apologized for what happened inadvertently during the protest. I am confident that Ambedkar's followers will not fall prey to the opposition's false campaign."
