FIR lodged against mla Jitendra Awhad...NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) faction mla Jitendra Awhad on wednesday apologized for tearing posters condemning Manusmriti which also had a picture of Dr. BR Ambedkar. Sharad faction mla Jitendra Awhad's troubles have increased. An FIR has been lodged against Awhad in Mahad. Now the first statement from Sharad faction has come out on this. Jayant Patil said, "Jitendra Awhad has been actively working to protect the ideas of Babasaheb Ambedkar for more than fifty years. His entire political and social life is imbued with Ambedkarite ideas. Every Ambedkarite ideology person has no doubt about Jitendra Awhad's loyalty and love for baba Saheb."Patil further said, "While fighting to protect Ambedkarite ideas, Awhad accidentally tore the poster of baba Saheb. He has clearly apologized for this. I am confident that Ambedkar's followers will never fall prey to the false propaganda of the opposition." Here, protests will be held against Jitendra Awhad in Mumbai, thane and more than 10 places today. The rival nationalist congress party led by ajit pawar targeted him over the incident and demanded that he be arrested, while the bjp said that it would protest in maharashtra on the issue.A case was registered against Awhad at Bundgarden police station in pune for promoting enmity between different groups. Awhad, a former state minister, was participating in a protest in Mahad in Raigad district against the state government's alleged plan to include some verses of Manusmriti in the school curriculum. He had earlier said that the ancient text supports the caste system and degrades women. He had asked people to protest against the decision. But a new controversy erupted when videos of the protest showed him tearing a pile of posters that also had Ambedkar's picture on them.
