Before the lok sabha elections in punjab, Shiromani Akali Dal on saturday (May 25) expelled party leader and former minister Adesh Pratap Singh Kairon from the party due to anti-party activities. Aadesh Pratap Kairon is the brother-in-law of Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal. Sukhbir Badal's sister Preneet Kaur is married to Aadesh Pratap Kairon. This action has been taken on the complaint of Akali Dal's Khadur Sahib lok sabha candidate Virsa Singh Valtoha. Akali Dal General Secretary Balwinder Singh Bhundar has approved this decision after discussing with senior party leaders.

All the parties are putting their full strength in the campaign for the seventh and last phase of elections on 13 seats in Punjab. Shiromani Akali Dal is alone in the election field in Punjab. SAD broke ties with nda after protests over agricultural laws. After which both Akali Dal and bjp are on the path of Ekla Chalo. On bathinda seat, Akali Dal has fielded Harsimrat Kaur Badal, daughter-in-law of the Badal family and former Union Minister. Shiromani Akali Dal has made Virsa Singh Valtoha its candidate from Khadur Sahib lok sabha seat. On the other hand, congress and aam aadmi party are also contesting elections separately in the state.

Voting for lok sabha elections in punjab on june 1

There are total 13 lok sabha seats in Punjab. Voting for all these seats will be held in the last phase on june 1. A total of 328 candidates from different parties have entered the electoral battle for all the seats in the state. The 13 seats in the state where voting will take place in the last phase include Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Khadur Sahib and jalandhar lok sabha seats. Apart from this, voting will be held in Hoshiarpur, Anandpur Sahib, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Faridkot, Ferozepur, Patiala, Sangrur seat and bathinda lok sabha seat.
