Waris punjab De chief Amritpal Singh is contesting as an independent candidate from Khadur Sahib lok sabha seat. At present he is lodged in Dibrugarh jail of Assam. Amritpal Singh was arrested under the National Security Act in april 2023. Since then he is lodged in Dibrugarh jail along with his comrades. At present, the nomination of Amritpal Singh has been accepted by the election Commission.

Apart from Amritpal Singh, there is a veteran leader of punjab, who had contested elections while in jail. Not only this, he also won the election by more than 4 lakh votes. After the nomination of Amritpal Singh has been accepted by the election Commission, now it has become his duty to contest the elections. But, former punjab IPS officer and senior leader Simranjit Singh Mann has also contested elections while in jail.

Simranjit Singh Mann was lodged in bhagalpur jail in 1989, when he contested elections from Tarn Taran. Not only this, while being in jail, he also won the election by more than 4.5 lakh votes. That year Simranjit Singh Mann got the biggest victory in Punjab. However, he refused to go to parliament without the saber and subsequently resigned. Now Simranjit Singh Mann is also supporting Amritpal Singh who is contesting from Khadur Sahib lok sabha seat.
