Charanjit Singh Channi: New controversy...
The punjab Women Commission has demanded an investigation into the video clip in which former state chief minister and congress leader Charanjit Singh Channi is allegedly seen touching the chin of former SGPC president Jagir Kaur. After the video clip went viral on social media, the Chairperson of the State Women's Commission, taking suo motu cognizance, has written a letter to the director General of Police, punjab, asking him to file a status report in this regard by May 14.
The commission also wrote that Jagir Kaur is a former cabinet minister and former head of the apex gurudwara body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. Charanjit Channi met Jagir Kaur while filing nomination papers in jalandhar on Friday. Jagir Kaur was with Shiromani Akali Dal candidate Mohinder Singh KP. In the video, Channi can reportedly be seen holding his hands and bowing. Then both are seen joking. Meanwhile, Charanjit Channi is allegedly seen touching Jagir Kaur's chin with his hand.

During this, Charanjit Channi and Jagir Kaur as well as their supporters are seen laughing loudly. Channi's political rivals are sharing the video as memes on social media. Meanwhile, Channi said that Kaur is like his elder sister and mother, he bowed his head before her when he met her. While reacting to the incident in a data-facebook post, Jagir Kaur said that Channi held her hand with respect and bowed his head. He touched her chin in a respectful manner. Jagir Kaur said that social media as well as several television channels removed a certain part of the video, in which Channi is seen bowing before her, but aired the rest of it, calling it 'full of mischief' and saying that it Sad for him, his family and well-wishers.
