Manoj had created his image in india under the name of Bharat Kumar. But Manoj Kumar's closest project came in 1981 when he started making Kranti, a period action drama. This film was a hit but to save it, his house and land were all sold.

Kranti was directed by Manoj Kumar. The budget of this film was very high. This film was made for about Rs 3 crores. According to that time, the amount of Rs 3 crore is very high. When the shooting of this film started, the financiers and producers had backed out, after which Manoj Kumar was left with no option. He had to produce the film himself.

Had sold the bungalow

Manoj Kumar was very troubled in arranging money for the film. He had sold his delhi bungalow for the film. When even that money did not work, Manoj Kumar also sold his plot in Mumbai. If reports are to be believed, Manoj Kumar had planned to build a movie theater after retirement but he had given up his dream for the sake of revolution. Manoj Kumar, dilip Kumar, Shashi Kapoor, Shatrughan Sinha, hema malini and parveen babi were seen playing important roles in this film. This film was released in february 1981.
