The politics of the country has completely changed in the recent past. The effect of majority politics under the leadership of bjp is being seen in the entire country. Due to this, many opposition parties also seem to be coming under its influence. One of these is the country's oldest party, Congress. The congress party has not given ticket to any Muslim candidate this time in the two largest states of the country in the 2024 lok sabha elections. These two states are prime minister Narendra Modi's home state gujarat and neighboring Maharashtra. In gujarat, congress is contesting elections on 24 out of 26 seats there. One seat has been given to aam aadmi party under the alliance. bjp has been elected unopposed on one seat. Similarly, in Maharashtra, congress is contesting on 17 out of 48 seats there.

Voices of protest were also raised within the party due to no Muslim getting a ticket in the state. congress working president Mohammad Naseem Khan was the contender from mumbai North Central seat. There are about 6.5 lakh Muslim voters on this seat but still the party did not give them tickets. Then he became angry and resigned from the post of star campaigner of the party. However, he later withdrew his resignation.

Voting will be held on 25 out of 26 seats in Gujarat. Here bjp has been elected unopposed from surat seat. Out of these 25, aam aadmi party is contesting one seat in Bharuch. Veteran congress leader ahmed patel used to contest elections from here. But, after his death, his daughter was a contender here.

35 Muslim candidates in Gujarat

Only 35 candidates from the Muslim community are contesting the lok sabha elections in gujarat, but congress has broken its tradition this time and has not given ticket to even a single person from this community in the state. Among the national parties, only BSP has fielded a Muslim candidate from Gandhinagar. Voting will be held in the state on May 7. BSP had also fielded a Muslim candidate from Panchmahal in the 2019 lok sabha elections.
