Is AI a threat to the electoral system?

It is also true that the use of technology in elections solves many problems, but it can also create many dangers. Just a few days ago, technology company microsoft issued a warning against china using AI-generated content to influence public opinion and advance its geopolitical interests. It was reported that AI-generated content, including memes, videos and audio, could be circulated to influence election results in india and other countries.

Recently, a deep fake video of bollywood actor aamir khan went viral, in which he allegedly made fun of the bharatiya janata party for allegedly not fulfilling a decade-old promise that every indian citizen will have access to a bank. It was said to deposit Rs 15 lakh in the account. The voice in the video is similar to that of aamir khan, at the end of the video an appeal was made to the voters to support the opposition congress party. It was revealed that the video was manipulated with deepfake audio technology using artificial intelligence (AI).

The very next day, aamir khan described the video as "fake and completely untrue", and announced action against it. It seems that the makers of the video were trying to take advantage of Khan's voice and looks by using AI technology to attract votes by taking advantage of his popularity and since aamir khan is an influencer, such videos are likely to mislead millions of people.
