The two countries signed an agreement worth $375 million in january 2022.According to reports, the missiles were carried aboard an indian Air Force (IAF) C-17 Globemaster transport aircraft that took off from nagpur late yesterday and reached Manila, the capital of the Philippines, this morning.

The BrahMos missiles developed by india and russia are expected to significantly enhance the capabilities of the Philippine Coast Guard in the West Philippine Sea. This maritime region is facing many problems including the problem with China.A joint venture between India's Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and Russia's NPO Mashinostroyeniya, BrahMos is recognized as the world's fastest supersonic cruise missile.

India's defense exports for 2023-24 to reach Rs. 21,083 crore (approx. $2.63 billion), registering a growth of 32.5% over the previous year. Of this, 60% contribution comes from the private sector and the rest from defense PSUs.Amid rising tensions in the Indo-Pacific region, the BrahMos deal is expected to elevate India's role as a key defense partner.'Make in India' is now a buzzword in defense circles. It is to be noted that the government has taken some major policy decisions of late to prepare all the major defense systems in the country and make india self-sufficient in defence.
