Lok Sabha elections 2024: coimbatore Constituency - What is the Field Situation?

As the polling for lok sabha election 2024 is approaching, what is the field situation in the coimbatore lok sabha constituency?

Polling for the Parliamentary lok sabha election 2024 will be held in tamil Nadu in a single phase on april 19. As far as tamil Nadu is concerned, there is a three-way contest between DMK, AIADMK, and bjp in this election. Separate alliances have been formed under the leadership of these parties and the candidates have been announced.

Accordingly, DMK's Ganapathi Rajkumar, AIADMK's Singhai Ramachandran, and BJP's leader annamalai have been announced as candidates for the coveted coimbatore lok sabha constituency.

Western region including coimbatore has always been full of challenges for DMK. DMK also sees this as a prestige problem for itself. In the last assembly elections, DMK won by a landslide, but AIADMK itself won six assembly constituencies in Coimbatore. The ally bjp won one seat. The AIADMK won all 10 assembly constituencies in the constituency.

Subsequently, DMK fielded Senthil balaji to make coimbatore its stronghold. He did the work for him and gave DMK a huge victory in the local body elections. coimbatore, which used to be AIADMK's stronghold, is turning into DMK's stronghold after Senthil balaji took charge. He went to jail in an illegal money laundering case while his fieldwork in the lok sabha elections was largely ignored.

However, the seed he planted in coimbatore continues to grow today. Senthil balaji is an inescapable political force in the Kongu region, even though he is in jail, on the campaign platforms, 'We are winning; Senthil Balaji's slogan 'Only we are winning' keeps ringing.

Regarding the coimbatore lok sabha constituency, DMK and AIADMK are not contesting directly in that constituency. coimbatore is mostly allotted to coalition parties. If you look at the history of coimbatore from 1952 to the 2019 lok sabha elections, only the Marxist-Communist and the congress have prevailed there. congress has won 6 times and CPM 8 times. DMK has won twice, AIADMK once, and bjp twice.

In the last 2019 lok sabha elections, the Marxist communist candidate PR Natarajan in the DMK alliance won by a margin of more than 1.5 lakh votes by getting 571,150 lakh votes. In the AIADMK alliance, bjp candidate CP Radhakrishnan came second with 3,92,007 votes and mahendran of Makkal Neeti Maiyam came third with 1,45,104 votes.

AIADMK has left the bjp alliance this time. DMK also did not allocate coimbatore to the coalition party. Therefore, there is a three-way contest in coimbatore this time between DMK, AIADMK, and BJP.

However, the siblings have high hopes that the magic of Senthil balaji and the work he has already done and left behind will help the DMK. The fact that the People's Justice Center, which has a significant vote bank in coimbatore, is in the DMK alliance is an additional strength of the party.

On the other hand, the bjp also sees a significant vote bank in the coimbatore lok sabha constituency as their strength. They believe that the announcement of annamalai as a candidate is also a plus for them. On the other hand, SB Velumani has a major role in keeping coimbatore as AIADMK's stronghold. As AIADMK candidate Singhai Ramachandran is close to him, he is also expected to give a duff.

Lok Sabha elections 2024: Trichy Constituency - What is the Field Situation?

Coimbatore lok sabha Constituency has 6 assembly constituencies namely coimbatore North, South, Singanallur, Goundampalayam, Sullur, and Palladam. Of this, only Palladam falls in Tirupur district. The other 4 assembly constituencies fall in coimbatore district. In the last assembly elections, AIADMK won 5 of these 6 assembly constituencies and bjp, which was in alliance with AIADMK then, won one constituency. But in the local elections that followed, Senthil balaji captured DMK in Coimbatore.

But many people say that coimbatore is BJP's stronghold. Talking to political commentators about this, they say that such an appearance has been created. coimbatore South is the only constituency where bjp can be strong. Apart from that constituency, they point out that AIADMK, DMK, congress, and Communists have their traditional vote banks.

They say that even though the bjp has grown in some rural areas, it has not grown enough to stand alone. bjp has influence only in coimbatore South. But since this is a lok sabha election, it is difficult for bjp to win on its own
