Why appointment of Siddhesh Kadam as MPCB chairman criticized by political activists?

As per report maharashtra Pollution Control Board chief and son of shiv sena leader Ramdas Kadam, Siddhesh Kadam, on friday defended his appointment to the chief post, saying it could not have been done without a thorough investigation. The appointment of Siddhesh Kadam as MPCB chairman has been criticized by political activists on social media, who have claimed that such a move will bring the functioning of an important institution like MPCB to a standstill. Siddhesh is the younger son of Ramdas Kadam, who was previously the minister of State for Environment and Climate Change.


Perhaps his elder brother yogesh Kadam is an mla from Dapoli and belongs to the army led by chief minister Eknath Shinde. Siddhesh told PTI, “The state government and the office of the chief minister of maharashtra appointed me as the chairman of the maharashtra Pollution Control Board. “The concerned department must have conducted a proper investigation before arriving at this decision.”


Hence regarding the uproar over his appointment, he said, "I am a science graduate and hold an MBA (International) degree from Deakin University, Australia. I should be judged by my work. I will respond to criticism with my own work.'' According to a gazette notification from the Department of Environment and Climate Change, a person with 25 years of experience in matters related to environmental protection or in institutions dealing with matters related to environmental protection. A person can be appointed as the head of MPCB.


According to the notification, if the government wishes to appoint an officer as the MPCB Chairman, the person must be "or has held the rank of Secretary or above in the indian Administrative service (IAS)". It states that the officer must have a degree in Science or Engineering and must have knowledge of matters relating to environmental protection and the administration of institutions or departments of the central government or State government or Public Sector Undertakings dealing with matters relating to environmental protection.
