What is the Mathematics of Votes in UP Rajya Sabha and how will BJP's eighth candidate win?

Reportedly former rajya sabha mp Sanjay Seth filed nomination in the assembly as the 8th candidate from bjp for the rajya sabha elections 2024 to be held on 10 seats of Uttar Pradesh. During this, deputy cm Keshav prasad Maurya, State President Bhupendra Chaudhary and Finance Ministers suresh Khanna, Sanjay Nishad, ashish Patel were present. After the nomination of Sanjay Sanjay Seth, now there are total 11 candidates for rajya sabha from UP. In such a situation, there will be a fight for one seat i.e. voting on 27th february which is going to be very interesting. Earlier on Wednesday, 7 bjp candidates had filed nomination for Rajya Sabha. Earlier on tuesday, 3 SP candidates had filed nominations.

Meanwhile 7 candidates had filed nomination before BJP. 7 candidates of bjp filed nomination on Wednesday. These include former Union minister RPN Singh, former mp Chaudhary Tejveer Singh, State party General Secretary Amarpal Maurya, former minister of State Sangeeta Balwant, party spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi, former mla Sadhna Singh and former agra Mayor naveen Jain. Whereas Samajwadi party has fielded its 3 candidates for rajya sabha elections, on tuesday Jaya Bachchan, Ramji Lal suman and retired IAS Alok Ranjan filed nomination for Rajya Sabha.

Moreover the total number of MLAs in the house is 403, out of which 3 members have passed away. While one member of bjp is disqualified, apart from this, three members are in jail, two of them are SP's Ramakant Yadav and Irfan Solanki and SubhaSP mla Abbas Ansari. In such a situation, the number of MLAs who voted becomes 399. Now on the basis of this, 399 members will be divided by the total number of candidates which is 11, after which comes the number 37. In such a situation, the total number for 8 members of bjp is 288, whereas bjp has 289. In this way bjp has one more vote for the eighth position.
