There is very little time left for the lok sabha elections in India. Before the elections, the last budget session of the second term of the Modi government ended on 10 February. After this, PRS Legislative, an organization doing research on the parliamentary system, has shared its report. It explains in detail how the performance of the MPs was during the parliament session in the 17th Lok Sabha. According to the research report, some MPs did not miss even a single meeting. So there are some MPs who maintained silence during the 5 years of parliament session.

Total 274 meetings in 5 years

According to the report of PRS Legislative, during the five-year tenure of the 17th lok sabha, a total of 274 meetings were held in the parliament session. Which is the lowest compared to all the previous full-time Lok Sabhas. In this meeting, two bjp MPs from Ajmer and Kanker registered 100 percent attendance, while MPs sunny deol and shatrughan sinha did not participate in the debate during any of the meetings.

shatrughan sinha is TMC mp from asansol lok sabha seat of West Bengal. By-election was held on this seat in april 2022 and at that time TMC's shatrughan sinha defeated bjp candidate Agnimitra Paul by a margin of three lakh votes. Whereas sunny deol represents Gurdaspur of Punjab. However, sunny deol had announced his retirement from electoral politics a few months ago. In an interview, Sunny had said - I am not able to give time to the people of the area and the parliament, so now I have decided not to contest elections in future.

According to PRS Legislative Research, Sunny Deol's attendance in parliament from 2019 to 2024 was only 18 percent. Except for the budget session 2023, Sunny, who came to politics from actor, has not participated in any proceedings of the parliament since the year 2021. sunny deol had defeated sunil Jakhar of congress from Gurdaspur seat in the year 2019. At that time Deol had got 5 lakh 58 thousand votes, while Jakhar had got 4 lakh 76 thousand votes. Jakhar is now in the bharatiya janata party and is heading the punjab organization.
