Reportedly ajay Maken has been made a candidate for rajya sabha elections from Karnataka. ajay Maken is the national treasurer of Congress. congress President mallikarjun Kharge appointed ajay Maken as the new treasurer of the party on 1 october 2013. Earlier, pawan kumar Bansal was holding the responsibility of this post. He has also been appointed public representative (MP/MLA) five times. Has been a minister in the central government. Has also handled the responsibility of former speaker of delhi and cabinet minister. Considering his experience, the party has decided to send him to the Upper House. He was also a minister in the sheila dikshit government in Delhi.
Meanwhile ajay Maken has also been the President of delhi Pradesh Congress. The party appointed him to this post in the year 2015. Maken, who started with student politics, has had a long journey in Congress. ajay Maken is related to the family of former President Shankardayal Sharma. His uncle Lalit Maken was married to Gitanjali, daughter of former President Shankardayal Sharma. congress leader ajay Maken has been mla three times. He was elected mla from delhi for three consecutive times in the years 1993, 1998 and 2003. When he became mla for the third time, he was appointed the Speaker of delhi Assembly.
Earlier in the year 1985, Manak was elected President of delhi University Student Union. He obtained his bachelor's degree in Chemistry from delhi University. Maken has also been in-charge of congress in the assembly elections. He is seen in the media supporting the party.
