What’s the tussle between alliance partners regarding the Farrukhabad Lok Sabha seat?
Reportedly congress was keen to field raj babbar from Fatehpur Sikri, but actor-turned-politician raj babbar is not keen to contest from Fatehpur Sikri seat. He said that Ramnath Sikarwar could be the second choice for Fatehpur Sikri seat. congress spokesperson supriya Srinetra is said to be the candidate from Maharajganj seat. In the last election, congress had given ticket to supriya, but she lost.
Meanwhile Tanuj Punia, son of former congress Rajya Sabha mp PL Punia, has been given ticket from Barabanki, while former MLC deepak Singh can be a candidate from Sultanpur. Former mp Imran Masood is likely to contest from Saharanpur, while former mp Rajesh Mishra is likely to contest from Bhadohi. Sources also said that congress is demanding Bansgaon seat for Kamal kishore Commando, although SP has not yet made any promise to the oldest party for the Bansgaon seat.
Perhaps there was also a tussle between the alliance partners regarding the Farrukhabad lok sabha seat. Senior congress leader salman Khurshid used to contest elections from Farrukhabad, which was his ancestral seat. However, in the last two lok sabha elections, Khurshid could not even save his deposit in Farrukhabad. SP has now given ticket to cancer surgeon Naval kishore Shakya from Farrukhabad. Samajwadi party has also defeated congress in Lakhimpur Kheri, where it has declared Utkarsh Verma as its candidate. congress is all set to announce the name of Purvi Verma from this constituency. Purvi had joined congress along with her father ravi Verma in november 2023. ravi Verma is a former SP leader. He said, "SP is giving us those lok sabha seats which we had not even asked for. A senior congress leader said, SP declared candidates on those lok sabha seats on which congress was preparing to contest without informing its alliance partner.
