According to the website of the Ministry of home Affairs, in the year 1955, the then prime minister jawaharlal nehru was given the Bharat Ratna while he was the PM. Then Dr. rajendra prasad was the President. Apart from him, this year freedom fighter Bhagwan Das and great engineer M Visvesvaraya were also given the award. After jawaharlal nehru, indira gandhi was the second person to be awarded Bharat Ratna while holding the post of Prime Minister. VV Giri was the President then. Only the name of indira gandhi is recorded in the year 1971.
