So for naveen patnaik did not data-face any problem in winning the last assembly elections in 2019. Despite being in the government for four consecutive terms, naveen Patnaik's party won 112 seats in odisha in 2019. congress won only 9 seats. bjp became the main opposition party by winning 23 seats. But in the lok sabha elections, bjp caused a lot of damage to Biju Janata Dal. naveen patnaik was successful in forming the government for the fifth consecutive time, but for the first time in 2019, it was realized that bjp is going to be a big challenge for naveen patnaik in the future.

Meanwhile bjp won 23 assembly seats in 2019. Its vote share was 32.49%. bjp had gained 13 seats as compared to last time, but the dangerous thing for naveen patnaik was that BJP's vote bank increased by almost 15%. Congress's vote share decreased by about ten percent. In this election, the vote share of Biju Janata Dal had increased by more than one percent. In place of congress, bjp was now on the way to become the new alternative as the opposition party in Odisha.

Moreover the most positive thing for bjp and matter of concern for naveen patnaik were the results of lok sabha elections for 2019. Biju Janata Dal could win only 12 out of 21 seats and lost 8 seats. Whereas bjp was successful in winning 8 seats with a gain of 7 seats. congress could win only one seat. In the lok sabha elections also, BJP's vote share increased by about 17%. At the same time, there was a decline of more than 12% in the vote share of Congress. The vote share of Biju Janata Dal also decreased by more than one percent. This time bjp has its eyes on power in the state. Talking about the Legislative assembly, bjp had won a seat here for the first time in 1985. bjp won 2 seats in 1990 and 9 assembly seats in 1995. BJP's best performance in odisha was in the 2000 assembly elections. In this election, with the support of Biju Janata Dal, bjp won 38 seats. bjp won 32 seats in 2004. After leaving naveen patnaik, bjp won 6 seats in 2009, 10 seats in 2014 and 23 seats in 2019.
