Will Halala and Iddat be banned in Uttarakhand?

Accordingly Ranjana Prakash Desai, head of the UCC committee constituted by the uttarakhand government, has handed over the UCC draft to chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Now cm Pushkar Singh Dhami will review this draft and move forward in the direction of implementing it in the state by bringing a bill in the upcoming assembly session. At the same time, many information has also come to light regarding uttarakhand UCC draft, if UCC is implemented in uttarakhand, then it will change many rules in the state.

Perhaps according to uttarakhand UCC draft, Halala and Iddat will be banned in the state. Declaration of live-in relationship will be necessary, it will be like a self-declaration which will have a statutory format. In case the child is orphaned, the process of guardianship will be simplified. In case of quarrel between husband and wife, the custody of children can be given to their grandparents. However, population control has not yet been included in this draft.

According to the UCC draft, the marriage age of girls will be increased so that they can graduate before marriage. Along with this, there will be mandatory registration of marriage and without registration, the benefit of any government facility will not be available. There will be facility for marriage registration at village level also. Apart from this, equal grounds for divorce will be available to both husband and wife. The grounds of divorce which are applicable for the husband will also be applicable for the wife. At present, under personal law, husband and wife have different grounds for divorce.

Polygamy or polygamy will be banned. In inheritance, girls will get equal share as boys, till now according to personal law, boy gets more share than girl. The compensation given to the wife on the death of her employed son will also include the responsibility of maintaining the elderly parents. If the wife remarries, the parents will also have a share in the compensation received on the husband's death. If the wife dies and her parents have no support, then the responsibility of their maintenance will be on the husband. Along with this, everyone will get the right of adoption. Muslim women will also get the right to adopt, the process of adoption will be made easier.
