Reportedly the central government led by prime minister Narendra Modi presented its interim Budget 2024 for its second term on thursday (February 01, 2024). After the presentation of the budget by Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, all kinds of reactions came to the fore. In this sequence, DK suresh, brother of karnataka congress leader and deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar, said something which has created an uproar. However, later he also gave clarification. Expressing his reaction on the budget, the congress leader on thursday (01 February) said that when it comes to giving funds, South india is always ignored. After this he said that this would ultimately force them to demand a separate country for the southern part of the country.

When speaking to news agency ANI, DK suresh said, “The central government is ignoring South india while allocating funds. They allocate more funds to North india, especially the hindi heartland. This is not changing and if it continues like this, it will instigate us to separate from the hindi heartland and demand a separate country. We must get what we deserve.”

Later clarifying this, DK suresh said that he stands with the unity and integrity of india as a "proud indian and Congressman". He said, "A proud indian and a proud Kannadiga! South india and especially karnataka have data-faced the brutality of injustice in wealth distribution. Despite being the second largest GST contributory state, the Center is taxing karnataka and the southern states. "It is a complete injustice to india, whereas states like gujarat have seen an increase of 51 per cent. If this is not injustice then what is?"
