As soon as the pongal festival comes, the jallikattu potti in madurai comes to everyone's mind. Jallikattu is a traditional sports competition that proves the bravery of Tamils. Famous Jallikattu competitions are held in 3 places in madurai district namely Avaniyapuram, Palamedu and Alankanallur. A total of 6 thousand bulls were released by the district administration as 'token'.

14 prabhakar tamed the bull
In this competition, prabhakar from Podumbu village, madurai won the prize for the best bullfighter by taming 14 bulls. On behalf of chief minister M. K. Stalin, minister P. Murthy presented the car prize to him. A motorcycle was given to Chinnapatti Tamilarasan near Alankanallur who tamed 11 bulls. Similarly, the small black bull of Maruthupandi from Raya Vyal area of Pudukottai district was selected as the best bull. The owner of this bull was gifted a car on behalf of minister Udayanidhi Stalin.
