Aayi Puranam Ammal received a special award from the government

Chief minister Stalin has announced that Madurai's Aai Puranam Ammal, who donated land to a government school, will be given a special award.


Aai Puranam Ammal (52) from Kodikulam village near Othakadai, Madurai, lives in Surveyor Colony, Madurai. Her husband, who worked as an office assistant in Canara bank, Tallakulam, Madurai, passed away in 1991. Subsequently, Aai Puranam Ammal was assigned the job of clerk in the same bank on the basis of succession and she has been working there.


Aayi Puranam Ammal's daughter janani (30) passed away two years ago when she married her daughter janani who was living alone. On his deathbed he asked his mother to donate the land given by his grandfather to a school in his hometown.



Subsequently, Aai Puranam Ammal donated one and a half acres of land in her name to the government to upgrade the status of Kodikulam government Middle School. The current market value of the land is Rs.7 crore.


  He registered the land in the name of the school and handed over the document to the education department officer, in memory of his daughter janani, he requested to put his name only on the school premises and without doing any advertisement about it, he was engaged in his regular banking work.
