Nirmala Sitharaman did not answer about NDRF funds..!?

Union Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman did not respond to chief minister Stalin's demand for a National Disaster Relief Fund to deal with the effects of heavy rains. Chennai, Chengalpattu, kanchipuram and Tiruvallur districts were hit by heavy rains due to Cyclone Mijam in tamil Nadu, Nellai, Thoothukudi, Thenkasi and Kanyakumari districts were also hit by heavy rains. As a result, chief minister Stalin has requested funds from the central government to fix the compensations. chief minister Stalin has requested to provide 7033 crore rupees as temporary relief amount and 12,659 crore rupees as permanent relief amount to repair the damage caused by Mijam storm rains only. However, the central government has released Rs.450 crore. Similarly, chief minister Stalin has asked that 2000 crore rupees should be given in the first phase only to the southern districts. The central government has not yet provided funds for it.


However, chief minister Stalin has been demanding immediate release of funds from the National Disaster Relief Fund for the two major floods in tamil Nadu. However, the central government says that it has given Rs.900 crore to tamil Nadu so far. Nirmala Sitharaman, who met reporters in delhi today, was asked about this. He replied, “At the beginning of the financial year, tamil Nadu had Rs 813.15 crore as calamity fund. The central government has already provided Rs.900 crores of calamity fund to tamil Nadu this year. Out of the Rs 900 crore installment due this year, the first installment of Rs 450 crore will be paid in april and the second installment of Rs 12 on december 12. 450 crore was also given.” He said.


Chief minister Stalin has already said that the central government has released the amount claimed by Nirmala Sitharaman. In other words, chief minister Stalin is pointing out that the central government has given the share of Rs.900 crore to tamil Nadu in two installments in the state disaster relief fund, but nothing has been given as additional funds. Also, his demand is to release funds from the National Disaster Relief Fund for tamil Nadu.
