It will be a global hub for trading both diamonds and jewellery, a government statement said.
Meanwhile the STP has been constructed at a cost of ₹3400 crore on 35.54 acres of land with an area of 67 lakh square feet. It is set to become the global center of the rough and polished diamond trade. surat Airport's new integrated terminal building, constructed at a cost of ₹353 crore, will be capable of handling 1,200 domestic and 600 international passengers per hour during peak hours. Addressing the function, prime minister Modi said, “I have given this assurance to the nation that in my third term, india will be among the top three economies in the world. government has decided.” He said.
Appreciating the indian diamond designers, the prime minister said that the surat Diamond Exchange Complex showcases the skills of diamond designers and expresses indian ideas. “Surat Diamond Bourse showcases the capabilities of indian designers, indian designers, indian materials and indian concepts. Following his gujarat visit, prime minister Modi will be on a two-day visit to his lok sabha constituency, Varanasi. It is noteworthy that there he is launching several development projects worth ₹19,150 crore.
