Constructed at a cost of Rs. 3,400 crores on 35.54 acres, the surat Diamond Bourse is set to become the global hub for diamond trade. This interconnected building, with up to 4,500 offices, surpasses the Pentagon in data-size and stands as a symbol of India's prowess in the diamond industry. The city of surat, known as the capital of gems, produces 90 percent of the country's diamonds. The bourse is expected to serve as a platform for approximately 65,000 diamond experts.
The Modi government initiated the construction of this monumental building to centralize and enhance the diamond business in the country. The surat Diamond Bourse, spanning 15 floors, consists of nine interconnected rectangular shapes, covering an area of 6 lakh 20 thousand square meters. The construction, completed in four years, also includes ample parking space, with 20 lakh square feet dedicated for this purpose. Undoubtedly, this colossal building signifies India's commitment to becoming a major player in the global diamond trade.
