Drunk driver leaves truck on rail track in Ludhiana

According to officials, an allegedly drunken truck driver drove his vehicle onto a railway track in ludhiana, just minutes before a train was scheduled to traverse the section. When the loco pilot was alerted, he slowed the train and came to a stop a few yards away from the truck, avoiding a collision, they added.

According to government Railway police (GRP) Investigating Officer Jasvir Singh, the truck driver drove his vehicle onto the main Ludhiana-Delhi railway track on friday night and began travelling towards the ludhiana railway station from Sherpur before becoming trapped. The driver left the scene, but neighbours who saw the vehicle on the track alerted railway officials in time, according to Singh.

According to authorities, the vehicle was later taken off the track and the driver was detained. They claimed the rail movement was halted for a while but was restored after roughly an hour. According to them, a medical test of the driver revealed that he was under the effect of alcohol. When the loco pilot was alerted, he slowed the train and came to a stop a few yards away from the truck, avoiding a collision, they added.
