Sources from New delhi stated that prime minister Modi has called on the media to create awareness among people about deepfake technology. With fake videos targeting leading film actresses being circulated online using deep-fake technology, prime minister Modi has expressed concern over the use of artificial intelligence to create such content. Speaking at the diwali Milan event held at the bjp headquarters in delhi, PM Modi said that he has asked the ChatGpt team to be on the lookout for deepfake videos and warn when such videos go viral.

Prime minister Modi has singled out deepfake, a technology powered by artificial intelligence, as problematic and called on the media to play a key role in educating the public about the risks associated with it. Using a form of artificial intelligence called deep learning, deepfakes create fake videos of real people. That is, through this technology, using artificial intelligence, it is possible to place another person's data-face in place of another person's data-face as an original. people in the video can make it look like they did something they didn't.

Recently, deepfake videos of actresses rashmika Mandhana, katrina kaif and kajol with their morphed data-faces surdata-faced on social media and raised concerns. Such videos have also sparked outrage among the public. In this context, PM Modi has urged the media to educate people about the negative consequences of using artificial intelligence to spread harmful content, such as misrepresenting individuals in deepfakes.

Prime minister Modi then also emphadata-sized the importance of awareness in dealing with such challenges posed by emerging technology. “A challenge has arisen due to artificial intelligence and deepfake. Most people in our country do not like to check the truth. people often believe deepfakes, which is a big challenge.” Talking about the dangers of deepfaking, the prime minister pointed out that he had seen a video of Garba dancing, but had never danced Garba since school. “Recently I saw a video of Garba dancing. I was surprised that the video was so good. There are many such videos online. Actually, I've never danced like that. Although I excelled in garba in school, I never sang or played garba. So, it's a fake video of me dancing with Deepfake. You have to be very careful about it.” said.

Deepfakes are used to intentionally spread false information or there may be malicious intent behind their use. They can be used to harass, intimidate and humiliate people. Deepfakes can spread misinformation about important issues and cause confusion. The central government has warned that anyone who creates and publishes a fake video using technology including deepfakes will data-face three years in jail and a fine of Rs 1 lakh. Further, the central government also issued instructions regarding the laws already in force.

Also, victims of AI-generated deep fake videos can file a First Information Report (FIR) at the nearest stations and seek redress under the Information technology Rules, 2021 and the indian Penal Code (IPC). Under the Information technology (IT) Rules, 2021 it is a legal obligation for online platforms to prevent any user from spreading false information. Therefore, social networking sites should ensure that false information is removed within 36 hours if reported by any user or government. If this is not complied with, the aggrieved person can approach the court as per Section 7, IPC Rules.
