Telangana - Meet the new Hyderabad Police Commissioner Sandeep Shandilya

The State government appointed sandeep Shandilya, a senior IPS officer, as the Commissioner of police for hyderabad on Friday. A. Santhi Kumari, the Chief Secretary, issued an order to that effect. 1993 batch officer Shandilya's most recent position was director of the telangana State police Academy (TSPA). Prior to this, he held positions as Cyberabad police Commissioner, Additional DG, Railways and Road Safety, DG, Prisons, CID, and ISW.
Sandeep Shandilya, a senior IPS officer, took over as hyderabad police Commissioner on friday at the telangana State police Integrated Command Control Centre (TSPICCC) in Banjara Hills. As an IPS member from the 1993 batch, sandeep Shandilya has a lot of diversified expertise from several departments. He started off as an ASP Godavarikhani and worked in the Krishna, SP Adilabad, and OSD nalgonda districts.
He has vast experience in metropolitan policing having held the positions of DCP South Zone (2005-2007), Addl.CP Crimes (2012-14) and headed Cyberabad police Commissionerate between 2016-2018. The top cop also served as D.I.G. CID, IG Personnel, Addl.DG Railways and director, telangana State police Academy.
Throughout his distinguished career spanning over three decades, Shandilya has been honored with several prestigious medals – The indian police Medal for Meritorious service in 2002, the Antharik Suraksha Seva Pathak in 2004, the President police Medal for Distinguished service in 2018, and the police Medal for Gallantry.
