Telangana - Dalit & BC Bandhu, Gruha Lakshmi fear BRS MLAs
Dalit Bandhu, bc Bandhu, and Gruha lakshmi are three programmes that the BRS administration has developed in an effort to form the government for a third time in a row. However, demonstrations over the anomalies in its execution in the former warangal and karimnagar districts are hounding the MLAs of the ruling party.
300 people in each assembly district would get Dalit Bandhu funding, according to the BRS administration. There are claims made against its MLAs, meanwhile, that they chose their party's activists and supporters as beneficiaries rather than legitimate applicants. Carpenter and hanamkonda resident Sripelli Sudhakara Chary informed Deccan Chronicle that he had filed for bc Bandhu and repeatedly visited the office of the mla to request the addition of his name in order to receive the benefit, but to no avail. He claimed that when he inquired, BRS leaders informed him that his name will be shortlisted, and that too following the elections.
Approximately 60,000 residents of the former warangal district and 40,000 residents of the former karimnagar district applied for the programme. According to the applicants, BRS MLAs were recommending 50 to 100 of their followers from each hamlet for the programme, and the shortlists were created in accordance with this practise. Sarpanchs in several areas also applied for the programme, they continued.
In the first phase, the government would grant Dalit Bandhu benefits to 100 recipients in each assembly segment, and in the second phase, 1,100 people in each segment. However, petitioners claim that the plan mainly benefited BRS supporters. Members of the sc community in Mallapur Mandal in jagtial district organised a rasta roko in protest of the government, demanding equitable execution of the programme. They claimed that 14 people out of a small number of applicants received Dalit Bandhu benefits due to irregularities by the BRS public representatives.

Sammeta Mahendar Goud, a senior in the congress party, said that Aroori Ramesh, a Wardhannapet BRS mla, was recruiting Dalit community people into the party by tempting them with the endorsement of Dalit Bandhu. At a gathering organised by party leader Dasari usha in Peddapalli, BSP state chairman R.S. praveen Kumar accused the BRS administration of engaging in vote-bank tactics by implementing populist policies in order to win the elections. In the meanwhile, the Dalit Bandhu, bc Bandhu, and Gruha lakshmi programmes have caused great concern among BRS MLAs, who believe that rather than benefiting from them, the schemes might cost them in the future elections.
