Telangana - Attending classes can earn you 10 marks!
Regular attendance can now earn you points. The new evaluation system, which will be in effect starting with the current academic year, or 2023–2024, will grant undergraduate and graduate students at traditional universities 10 marks based on their attendance in classes.
The current weightings of 30% for the internal evaluation and 70% for the semester-end test have been adjusted. A 40% weighting has been added to the internal evaluation, and a 60% weighting has been given to the semester-ending test. Internal evaluation and semester-end assessments are likely to be given similar weight over time.
Each of the four internal exams, which will be given each semester and take place at equal periods of time, will initially be worth 50% of the final grade before being reduced to 10%. As a pilot project, the new assessment and evaluation system will be put into place at the postgraduate level in universities and in undergraduate autonomous institutions. The indian School of business (ISB) specialists researched and reported on the "assessment and evaluation systems in higher education" in the State, and their recommendations were used to implement these changes.
Six institutions received a letter from the telangana State Council of Higher education urging them to follow its rules with the option of changing them to meet their own local needs. The universities were instructed to create a question bank for each course that included questions with varying weights in accordance with the format of the question paper and to provide the necessary software to randomly arrange the question papers in order to minimise errors.
