Minister Udayanidhi stalin visited the Jallikattu stadium under construction at Alankanallur, Madurai. Jallikattu competitions are usually held on Thai Thirunal pongal festival. For the first time in tamilnadu Jallikattu competition is held in Avaniyapuram, madurai district. After that, Jallikattu competitions will be held at various places including Palamedu, Alankanallur. Alankanallur Jallikattu became world famous. However, there was no separate place for the jallikattu competition and it was held inside the town. As VIPs often occupy the main gallery near Wadivasal, there is no space for the general public and foreigners who come to watch the Jallikattu competition. In order to solve these problems, chief minister M. K. stalin announced in the Legislative assembly that a huge jallikattu playground will be set up on 66 acres in Keegar Karai village near Alankanallur so that jallikattu can be enjoyed by all parties. Accordingly, a world-class jallikattu ground is being constructed at a cost of Rs.44 crores in Keezakarai village near Alankanallur, madurai district, so that thousands of people can sit and watch at the same time.
New roads are also being constructed by the State Highway Department at a cost of Rs.22 crores so that visitors can easily reach the stadium. Also, there will be a wadi gate, administrative office, cowherds testing room, bull registration center, museum, waiting room for soldiers, veterinary hospital, temporary sales halls, material storage room, dormitory. Meanwhile, sports minister Udhayanidhi stalin, who is on a tour of madurai, visited the Jallikattu ground under construction at Alankanallur. Also, he instructed the officials to complete the work quickly in order to hold jallikattu competitions at this ground for the next Pongal.
In this regard, he said on his X page, "The Kazhagam government, which has broken the ban on Jallikattu, a traditional sport of Tamils, is constructing a stadium with a jallikattu arena at a cost of Rs. 44 crore in Alankanallur, which is famous for jallikattu. Today we personally inspected the jallikattu ground which is being built under the stamp schemes of tamilnadu government. The construction work of this ground which has all the modern facilities like front gate, bull waiting room, players waiting room, veterinary hospital, rest rooms is nearing completion.
