The details of pending and settled cases in the supreme court will henceforth be available on the website in real time. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said that this system, which was available only from Taluk Courts to High Courts, will be extended to the supreme court as well. D.Y. Chandrachud, who announced the matter in the court premises before the proceedings of the supreme court on Thursday, said that the data of the supreme court will soon be linked to the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG). Thus the information of supreme court cases will be uploaded to the website in real time. This is a historic day. The website developed by NIC will now provide comprehensive information on pending cases, settled cases and judgments of all the courts of the country, from local courts to the supreme Court. This will increase transparency and credibility in the judicial system.
From Taluk Courts to High Courts, judgments and case details of 18,735 courts of the country are being uploaded in real time in NJDG. Details of supreme court cases are not available in it.
Prime minister Narendra Modi appreciated the Chief Justice's decision to include the supreme court in the NJDG. He said in 'X' that the use of technology in this way will bring more transparency and efficiency in the judicial system.
