Since a few days ago, people from the former warangal districts who have dengue, malaria, and viral fever have been pouring into state-run government hospitals, particularly in agency regions like Mulugu. According to government statistics, 12 persons died from dengue, 10 of them in the mulugu and two in the hanamkonda districts.

Garbage gathered in drainage ditches when the rains stopped, and the tainted water surged into several colonies and onto the highways, spreading illness. The main causes of the sharp increase in the mosquito population are attributed to poor sanitation, unfinished drain construction, and failure to clear abandoned lots in urban areas.

In the mulugu district, there are 17 Primary health Centres (PHC). All hospitals are experiencing a significant influx of patients with a range of medical issues. The government hospitals see 80 to 120 fever cases each day. Sambaiah, a health officer at Eturnagaram PHC, stated that blood samples from patients exhibiting dengue and malaria symptoms are being collected and sent to MGM Hospital for analysis.

Many government hospitals in the former warangal district lack the necessary equipment to perform the blood platelet count test and the ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay) test, which are both used to diagnose dengue disease. In order to undertake Elisa testing, hospitals in rural and suburban regions direct their patients to the mahatma gandhi Memorial (MGM) hospital.

According to Dr. V. Chandrasekhar, superintendent of the MGM hospital, there are 300 beds available for patients, as well as ventilators and oxygen cylinders in case of an emergency. If more beds are required, he added, they will be added. There are now about 182 patients being treated at the MGM hospital, of which 28 have dengue, seven have malaria, and 147 have seasonal fever. dengue fever tests cost between Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 1,500 for patients visiting private facilities.

The district administration is now adopting a variety of preventative steps to limit the dengue epidemic, together with authorities from the medical, health, and municipal departments. Yerra Raju, a 43-year-old contract worker for the department of malaria, suffocated to death while fogging an apartment in Waddepally in the hanamkonda district that was still under construction.
