Residents and commuters were unprepared for the city's 4.35 p.m. friday evening heavy rainfall. Rain fell all day long until 6.30 p.m., which is rush hour in the metropolis. Riders on two wheels and pedestrians were compelled to take cover in any building that was open. Some people made the decision to get wet nevertheless in order to be at their destinations on time.
For many stuck travelers, metro stations became refugees. Unprecedented numbers of people arrived at the metro rail stations in Raidurgam and Ameerpet looking for refuge and a smooth trip. Many people noted the absence of a prompt weather notice prior to such a crisis. Nobody appeared to be ready for the unexpected downpour. Even the minor byways and flyovers were congested with traffic. The situation didn't start to improve until the rain's intensity started to wane at 6 o'clock.
In several parts of the city, immediate inundation occurred due to overwhelmed drainage systems, especially around rtc crossroads, Musheerabad, Narayanguda, Amberpet, Ramnagar, Bansilalpet, Dilsukhnagar, venkatagiri Colony, Masab Tank, Santoshnagar, Begumpet, Mehdipatnam and Nampally, among other important roads. The rains are expected to continue even today. Stay tuned with us for more updates.
