Chandrababu Naidu Hopes his Arrest would fetch him Mileage!
It has been a week since the national media outlet Hindustan Times revealed that N Chandrababu Naidu, the head of the telugu Desam party, has received a show-cause notice from the Income Tax department over the alleged payment of bribes of Rs 118 crore by an infrastructure business. He remarked during a gathering on wednesday in Rayadurg, Anantapur district, "I may be arrested in a day or two as he was questioning the ysr congress party misrule in the state." He claimed that the authorities may raid him or make an arrest for him either tomorrow or the day after. "They have brought a number of lawsuits against me in the past, including those involving amaravati estates and violence in punganur and Angallu. They now mention "Income Tax Notice." I have no fear. Allow them to act whatever they like. I haven't done anything wrong, he insisted.
It looks like Naidu is preparing for arrest by the jagan administration so that he won't be released from prison before the assembly elections. But he believes that if he were arrested, he would gain a lot of political capital for the elections. Based on one person's testimony in a 2020-related lawsuit, it is only a notification.
