Jai Shree holds the record of being the first woman pilot selected from the Padukar caste in the Nilgiris district.

The Paduga people, who are the guardians of the Nilgiris soil, have been living by following various things including their unique culture and worship. The Padukhar people live in the urban and rural areas like Ooty, Coonoor, Kotagiri and Kudalur. These people who are in the general category list have been demanding that they should be included in the tribal category for a long time. In this situation, for the past few years, many people belonging to the Padukar community have been getting a foothold in various fields including the Navy and the Army. In that way, a young woman from Padukhar community living in Nilgiri district has been selected as a pilot for the first time.

He is a retired administrative officer of Mani village from Nedukula Kurukathi area near Kotagiri in Nilgiri district. His wife is Meera. Their daughter Jayashree has now been selected as the first woman pilot in the Nilgiri Padukhar community. He completed his schooling from a private school in Kotagiri. After this, he completed engineering from a private college in coimbatore and worked in the IT industry for some time.

After that he decided to become a pilot and completed his pilot training and now he has joined as a pilot. For this he took flight training in South Africa. A woman from Padukhar community completing her studies and entering such a field is an inspiration to other members of Padukhar community.

Jayashree said in this regard; At present, in our society, they hesitate to send students to neighboring districts and states. Under such circumstances, my parents bravely sent me to another country for flight training. Similarly, when many people asked whether a girl child needs so much expense, my parents would say that only a girl child needs so much expense. Generally, everyone thinks that a pilot is a job that goes around town. But aviation jobs are more challenging than regular jobs. Physical examination and mental examinations are conducted once in three or six months. If you don't get selected in it, you will lose the job. So health and mood should be taken care of very well. Mental courage should be high. The main reason for me to come to such a job is my early schooling, teachers and parents there. She said, "It makes me happy to become the first woman pilot in our society and Nilgiris district."
