Rs.150 per month salary: Uttar Pradesh government..!?
The allahabad High court of Uttar Pradesh has said that the state government's employment of a watchman for a monthly salary of Rs.150 is forced labor exploitation. The allahabad High court of Uttar Pradesh has recently ruled that the state government's employment for Rs.150 per month is prohibited by the Forced Labor Act. allahabad High court Justice Irshad Ali, hearing the case of a school watchman, pointed out that the nature, regularity, responsibility and working hours of the petitioner were comparable to regular employees. The allahabad High court, in its order, said, “When the state government compels their labor at such ridiculously low wages that no human being can sustain himself, it is exploitation of humane labor that violates fundamental human rights and the right to work with dignity. This is a violation of Article 21 of the Constitution of India. Employment at Rs 150 per month under the state government is forced labor exploitation not permitted by law.” Also reported.
The allahabad High court, which heard the case of the petitioner Kavalali last year 2004, has ordered as follows. The petitioner was employed in december 1992, initially on a monthly salary of Rs. 30 earned a salary. The following year, he was officially commissioned. In 1998, his salary was increased from Rs.30 to Rs.150, and he has been receiving this amount since then.
