How will the Ghosi by-election result affect the BJP?

Annadurai

Only about 50.03 percent votes were cast in the famous Ghosi by-election of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. In

2022, 58 percent votes were cast here and in 2017, 57 percent votes were cast. Although 10 candidates are in

the fray for this seat, the main contest is believed to be between BJP's dara singh Chauhan and SP's

Sudhakar Singh. Low turnout in Ghosi has also increased the tension between these two leaders. Meanings

of low voting are being made in political circles. In Ghosi, SP and bjp had given their full strength to

campaign.

For the first time, in a by-election outside Etawah-Mainpuri, SP's ram gopal yadav was seen asking for

votes from door to door. Whereas bjp had fielded about two dozen ministers including its two Deputy Chief

Ministers. Political expert Ghosi is also calling the by-election as a litmus test of the india alliance in UP.

This election was also considered important for bjp in many ways. In such a situation, the low vote

percentage has increased everyone's frustration.

Why low turnout in Ghosi by-election, 4 points....

1. Amidst the voting, rain stopped the pace of voting for Ghosi. According to local experts, the pace of

voting was fast till morning, but due to rain in the afternoon, voters did not come out of their homes.

2. The rule of finger print was also one of the reasons for less votes. It is being said that fingers of voters

were being taken at every booth. Voting was also slow due to non-availability of finger match.

3. SP supremo akhilesh yadav has alleged that at the behest of the government, the local administration did

not allow people to vote. Therefore the voting percentage decreased. SP has also complained about this in

the election Commission.

4. Experts say that the trend of voting in UP by-elections has been low. Earlier, 56 percent votes were cast in

Khatauli by-election, while 39 percent votes were cast in Rampur by-election. Even in the Mainpuri Lok

Sabha by-election, only 54 percent votes were cast.
