Reportedly this is not the first time that a special session has been called during the tenure of the narendra Modi

government in India. Even before this session, a special session has been called once in the Modi government. In fact, on

June 30, 2017, the Modi government had called a special session of parliament for the first time in the Central Hall of

parliament to implement the Goods and services Tax (GST).

Year 2015: According to a news published in indian Express, before the year 2015, a special session was called on 26

november 2015. That day the government had called this session to pay tribute to BR Ambedkar. In the year 2015, India

was celebrating the 125th birth anniversary of Ambedkar. From this year onwards 26th november was declared

Constitution Day.

Year 2002: 

Giving information about calling of special session, Parliamentary Affairs minister Prahlad Joshi said that there will be five

meetings in this special session of Parliament. However, till now the central government has maintained silence on what

agenda will be discussed in the special session. The english newspaper 'The Hindu', citing sources, has written that this

special session could be regarding the G-20 summit and the celebrations related to 75 years of independence. It has also

been said in the report published in this newspaper that this session can also be organized in the new building of

parliament, this is the same building which was inaugurated in the month of May this year.

Regarding the special session, it is also believed that the government may bring a bill on some issue which has been

postponed for a long time like the Women's Reservation Bill. A report published in The indian Express has quoted sources

as saying that the government can bring a big bill like One Nation One election or women's reservation in this special

session.

There is also discussion that a big decision regarding Manipur can be taken in this special session. It is being said that even

though there are no reports of violence in this state at present, the internal situation is still not good. Kuki and naga castes

say that they no longer want to live under Meitai rule.

The Kuki tribe has demanded the creation of a separate Kukiland from the central government. Kuki communities say that

permanent peace will be restored only when Kukiland is created. people of the community argue that Meitais have

dominance in power in Manipur, due to which the situation may worsen. In such a situation, it is believed that the

government can take a major decision regarding Manipur in the special session.
