Heavy rains wreak havoc in Telangana Warangal district

The three days of torrential rains wrecked havoc, flooding many low-lying areas and making life difficult for those who lived in the former warangal district. While working in their crops, three farmers in the Jayashankar bhupalpally area were hit by lightning and killed. The deceased were named as Guduri Rajeshwar Rao, 46, Chaliveru Saritha, 30, and Nerpati Mamatha, 32, all of the Kailapur hamlet in chityala mandal.

When the Saraswathi barrage gates were opened at Annaram, the backwater entered the Chandrupalli vagu in the district's Mahadevpur mandal, flooding several villages' roads and causing traffic disruptions. It also flooded fields in several villages. Residents from Maliala, Govindaraju colony, and Kondai are taking boats to get to their destinations in mulugu district since the water levels there are dangerously high owing to the entrance of flood water into the Jampanna vagu.

People in the tri-cities of warangal, Hanamkonda, and Kazipet had difficulties as a result of flood water overflowing from drains and into homes in a number of colonies. As part of the smart city project, municipal workers started building stormwater drains in the Shivanagar area, but residents had a number of issues as a result of overflowing drainage and flooding into the Mysaiah Nagar, Ganesh Nagar, and A.C. reddy Nagar colonies.

Stormwater drains were allegedly constructed by municipal department officials, but because they were designed improperly, drainage water entered homes in various colonies, creating issues, according to the locals. They alleged that when contacted about the appalling conditions of their colonies, neither local public representatives nor municipal authorities cared to respond or take any action. On the other side, farmers who had spent thousands of rupees on cotton and chili crops had been anxious for the last month since there had been no sign of rain, and they feared that their crops would wilt and dry up. However, the recent widespread heavy rain in the combined warangal area has given them some relief.
