A special session will be held in parliament from september 18 to 22. Sources said on thursday that the central government may introduce the 'One Nation, One Election' Bill. There are rumors that the upcoming lok sabha elections may be held in december or january 2024 this year instead of april or May 2024. West bengal cm mamata banerjee has said about this possibility. Also, bihar cm nitish kumar has also said that the lok sabha elections can be held anytime. Also, there are doubts whether the lok sabha elections will be held at the same time as the assembly elections of some states in December. Amidst these rumours, the central government has decided to hold a 5-day special session.

Yes, a special session will be held in parliament from september 18 to 22. Sources said on thursday that the central government may introduce the 'One Nation, One Election' Bill during this five-day session. This idea has been mooted several times in the past and has been studied by the Law Commission of India. At present, elections – whether to the lok sabha or state assemblies – are usually held at the end of their term. This generally translates into two election cycles every year, with each cycle witnessing voting for different state assemblies. Under the one nation, one election concept, elections to the lok sabha and all state assemblies would be held in a single cycle, possibly on the same day.

Overall, the special session called by the central government has been interesting, and it has also been interesting to see how the opposition will react to this bill being introduced.
