Price of Lord Ganesha Statues likely to Increase
Vinayagar Chaturthi festival is going to be celebrated across the country on september 18. On this occasion, the work of making Ganesha idols is going on. Similarly, the work of making Ganesha idols in Arur, Paprirettipatti and Bommidi areas of Dharmapuri district is going on fast.
Idols ranging from half a foot to 1 foot are being made in clay and idols ranging from 2 feet to 10 feet in tuber flour are in progress. Different types of idols were prepared and consecrated and worshiped. Before the corona virus, Vinayagar Chaturthi festival was held without any restrictions.
Due to this, the sale of Ganesha idols was high. However, after the corona virus, various restrictions were imposed on worshiping idols. Due to this, the sale of Ganesha idols decreased. In this case, idol makers said that the price of idols is likely to rise this year as the price of raw materials for making Ganesha idols has gone up.
Regarding this, Govindaraj, who is making and selling idols in Bommidi, said: In the past years, idols ranging from half a foot to 8 feet were sold for Rs.100 to Rs.10,000. But now the price of raw materials like clay, tuber flour, paint etc. has increased twice.
Due to this, the price of Ganesha idols is likely to rise up to 25 percent compared to last year. A large number of idols were left over due to lack of sales in previous years. We have now reduced the production of idols as it is challenging to preserve them.
The work of making the idols has been completed and the work of painting them is now going on. The sale of idols will start when Ganesha Chaturthi approaches, he said.
