UDF did not raise month-long controversy against Veena..!?
The name of its own leaders in the list of those who paid money to CMRL led to the UDF's retreat, and the UDF was unable to decide on bringing up the month-long controversy involving the Chief Minister's daughter Veena in the Legislative assembly today. The first proposal was to raise the matter as an urgent motion in the House. This matter was discussed at the front but no decision was made. Today is the last day of the assembly. But along with the diary, the names of their own leaders appeared in the record of those who paid money to CMRL. The retreat of UDF leaders is due to fear of backlash if they raise the issue strongly.
On january 25, 2019, the Income Tax Investigation Department raided the office of Cochin Minerals and Roots Limited Company and the house of Managing director Sasidharan Kartha. A diary was accidentally found during the inspection. This was the monthly calculation. Exalogic, a company owned by Chief Minister's daughter Veena, also had an account of the money paid for three years from 2017. The central agency was convinced that there were unexplained transactions by the opposite parties during the investigation conducted on this. The explanation was that money was paid to Exalogic, owned by Veena Vijayan, for the software update of CMRL, which has been trying for decades to mine black sand on the kerala coast.
But the Income Tax investigation found that no software update was done in the organization. CMRL's stand was that the money was transferred through the bank and was not a black money transaction. But the Income Tax argued that the monthly payment for non-existent services was a fraudulent transaction. CMRL MD Sasidharan Karta responded to the controversy by saying that he had no financial dealings with Veena's organization and did not remember anything. The information in the monthly diary with the Income Tax Department has already been handed over to the central agencies including the ED.
